My check engine light would come on after a few miles of driving, then it go off when I turned the truck and back again driving about 5. With this scanner that I bought, found out electronic shift control valve for the overdrive was not getting a signal from computer more than half time. What they do is show you metal shavings in your transmission pan that are normal clutch wear, and then rip off. So I bought a new computer and that solved the problem, my transmission works perfectly now.
I have 1 of these scanners for my ford ranger, and it is the best thing ever bought truck. When I put my transmission shiftier in drive orbit would work perfectly around town. The booklet is very thick with lots of pictures and drawing that are easy to understand. With this book it said that was the computer under my glove compartment.
So when I started driving again the transmission would start out in 2nd gear then shift to 3rd gear, they also said that may have go inside my and fix it. Then when I got on the freeway would put transmission selector in overdrive Opposition, it took about 5 to 7 minutes and check engine come on, off came a stop not downshift into 1st gear, go down from which is 4th gear 3rd 2nd but. The check engine light does not come on anymore. This is a new code reader, never been used.
The plastic wrap on outside of box came off. The information comes in English Spanish, plus 3 small accessories wires. It has been sitting inside my tool box for a few years.
Dollars for the scan labor. The auto repair serviceman said it was more likely 1 of sensors or transmission and that he would have to put on his machine scanning scope cost me 90.
